SD High Capacity (SDHC) is the new SD memory card based on the SDA 2.0 specification and larger than 2GB capacity. Benefits include, larger capacity- file system changes from FAT 12/16 to FAT32, Higher Data Transfer Speed- SD Speed Class, CPRM Copyright Protection-Same protection as SD and Compact and Slim.

The Speed Class Specification classifies performance by Class number and offers the method to calculate its performance.

The specification enables the host to perform real time AV applications recording with SD memory cards.
