Verbatim will be expanding its mini DVD media range with the launch of 8cm DVD+RW discs. The discs can store up to 1.46GB or 30 minutes of data and are fully compliant with +RW format. The advantage of +RW over R and RW is that the discs are totally plug-and-play compatible. Users can load a +RW disc into an 8cm camcorder, start recording, remove the disc and review the footage in any DVD player, and then reload it into the camcorder and start shooting again.
The format combines the compatibility advantages of tape with the high picture quality of DVD, and the diminutive dimensions and light weight of 8cm discs.
These mini DVD discs are also tough and durable thanks to Verbatims special HardCoat ScratchGuard protective surface layer, which provides excellent protection against accidental surface damage.
Extensive testing in typical usage environments showed that the HardCoat ScratchGuard layer was nearly 50 times more resistant to general wear and tear than discs without the coating.
Verbatim's MIni 8cm DVD+RW discs will be available from Q1 2006.
