Verbatim showcases the latest trends in Optical, Flash Memory and USB storage at this year’s GITEX in Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, UAE October 2006 At GITEX, the Middle East’s Premier Information Technology and Communications Exhibition, the global media storage expert Verbatim will be demonstrating how more and more data can be packed into a tiny storage space. The focus this year is on the new HD-DVD generation and Blu-ray formats, the new range of USB and Flash Memory storage media and the new accessory range.
Verbatim will exhibit in Hall 2, Booth N° B2-6 from the 18th to 22nd November 2006.
There are currently two competing formats in the new high capacity blue laser technology discs, these being Blu-ray and HD-DVD media. The good news is that both formats are available from Verbatim. Blu-ray is available with 25 GB of storage capacity in single-layer structure and has a hardcoat ScratchGuard+ surface. This provides protection against scratches and dirt – including fingerprints – and therefore Verbatim sells Blu-ray discs without a cartridge. Blu-ray media in write-once (BD-R) and rewritable (BD-RE) formats have already started to be delivered to trade customers. The HD-DVD media in single-layer structure have capacities of up to 15 GB. 30 GB dual-layer HD-DVD media will be available from the 4th quarter of 2006.
Verbatim will also be presenting a complete family of mini-DVDs: The mini storage devices in DVD+R and DVD-R double layer, DVD-R and DVD+RW and DVD-RW formats are the new favourites of the camcorder industry: They are as easy to use as a tape, have the same quality of a DVD and only take up the space of an 8-cm disc. After recording, the disc can be placed straight into a DVD player and played.
Verbatim has upgraded both the speed and the design of its USB storage media: there are three devices in the Store‘n’Go range – the red USB Hi-Speed Drive, the blue Professional USB Drive and the silver USB Drive with U3 technology – have great-to-handle protective covers and, measuring just 78 mm x 20 mm x 7 mm, are smaller and lighter than ever before. All three models now read and write faster too and are available in capacities of up to 4 GB. A new feature of the U3-enabled stick: the all-rounder now comes complete with six intelligent software applications.
Also, there is something new in the recently launched range of Store‘n’Go USB HD drives: they will be available with 12 GB storage capacity at GITEX.
The GITEX is also the setting for Verbatim to unveil its extended range of Flash memory products specifically designed for mobile phones. The Micro Secure Digital card, Multimedia Mobile card and MMC Micros were developed mainly for use in mobile phones and come with storage capacities of 512 MB to 1 GB.
Verbatim is also extending its Audio/Visual, Peripherals & Accessories offer. Visitors to GITEX will be able to see its new range of MP3 Players with three different designs. Joining the range for the first time are portable USB loudspeakers available in three designs with between two and nine watt output.
The collection of mice has also grown: a special gaming mouse and a very low-energy version of the wireless model will be available from the last quarter of this year.
