Eschborn, December 2007 – Verbatim, the storage media specialist, is the first and only company in the world to bring colour LightScribe DVD+Rs this year onto the market. Alongside the current Golden colour, the discs are now available in Red, Orange, Yellow, Blue and Green. In addition, an update for the LightScribe system software allows even more brilliant results. The new Verbatim LightScribe DVD+R discs are available from December and cost €4.99 for 5 discs in a slim case (RRP). In addition, Verbatim will offer the Golden LightScribe CD-R, with proven AZO quality, on a spindle holding 25 discs for €10.49 (RRP). The second generation LightScribe DVD+Rs from Verbatim are now available in six colours. The new metallic tones show off the printable label side of the discs to a greater extent and make for more vivid and varied presentation.
The LightScribe technology is easy to operate, following the principle “burn – flip – burn“. Using the colourful Verbatim LightScribe DVD+R discs gives the result of a luminous, semi-gloss print. Whether it be photograph images, graphics or text, it can be burnt precisely with a laser ray into the coloured coating, meaning that conventional disc labels are a thing of the past.
In addition, an update of the LightScribe system software allows even more brilliant results. The label side can now be uniquely designed and burned in around twenty minutes using a LightScribe compatible burner. For the burning process of the label side, the disc simply has to be turned over after the desired files have been saved. The LightScribe discs from Verbatim can be rewritten with 16x recording speed and have a 4.7 GB memory capacity. “Verbatim LightScribe media are particularly suitable for laptop users who want to create media professionally, on the move“, says Torsten Leye, Marketing Manager Optical Verbatim EUMEA. “But for everyone who wants to keep their holiday snaps safe and well sorted, or wants to give a self-burned DVD as a present, the LightScribe DVD+R from Verbatim in the new colours are just right“, continues Leye.
Furthermore, LightScribe offers the “LightScribe Template Labeler“, editing software for individual label design for free download on its homepage: www.lightscribe.com. The software makes it easy to produce and preview graphics in the six LightScribe colours. “With one click of the mouse, you can add photos or text to the label design. The software automatically takes care of the correct alignment of the desired contents“, says Leye. Particularly helpful is that before burning, one can view the chosen design again in all six possible colour settings.
